Dr. Ian Kendrich Fontanilla is a Professor and Head of the DNA Barcoding Laboratory at the Institute of Biology, UP Diliman. He received his Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He specializes in Molecular Genetics, Phylogenetics, and Medical Malacology. His lab focuses on DNA barcoding and evolutionary biology of Philippine endemic fauna. He and his lab has also partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau to promote and utilize wildlife forensics to protect our endemic species.
