On February 19, the Planetary Health Philippines (PH2) convened a virtual town hall to discuss its upcoming initiatives for 2024. The “kumustahan” was attended by both old and new members of the network hailing from academia, healthcare, and the private sector.

During the event, PH2 members shared updates on various planetary health-related topics, covering environmental health, climate change, native trees, and mobility. The discussion also delved into diverse initiatives, ranging from individual efforts to collective endeavors, such as household recycling, research on the nexus of climate and health, health aspects of transport and mobility, and information dissemination activities. These discussions prompted members to explore potential collaborations, including the development of children’s books on planetary health, creating a YouTube repository of educational content, and organizing walking tours to educate children about Philippine native trees, among others.

The recurring theme that emerged from these exchanges was a shared commitment to prioritize children. Hence, the members unanimously agreed to orient PH2‘s efforts in 2024 towards initiatives for the younger generation.

Furthermore, the revival of the thematic working group (TWG) on food systems was announced, along with the launch of two new TWGs: one on the intersection of climate change and mental health, and another on urban mobility, transport, and health.

If you are interested on joining our network of planetary health scholars and practitioners and wish to contribute to PH2‘s TWGs, kindly accomplish this membership form and reach out to us at planetaryhealthph@gmail.com to express your interest in joining one (or more) of our TWGs!
