Jonathan grew up in Tacloban, Leyte where typhoons and hurricanes visit 20 times or more a year. Reckoning, it became clearer that stronger and more frequent cyclones were caused by global warming and climate change. At present, he is an Internist and doing training in Cardiology at St. Luke’s Heart Institute, Quezon City. In his daily rounds, he has seen the impact of the environment in the health of patients. As a physician, he believes, that the environment is linked to diseases as well. Part of their responsibility is to clearly communicate this connect to patients and actively promote its care. He chaired the Committee on Climate Change of the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP), fiscal years 2014-2020. They steered the inclusion of Climate Change Curriculum in Medical and Tertiary Health Education with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Together with the Climate Change Commission, national technical panel of experts, PCP drafted the reference book for this curriculum.
