Planetary Health Philippines (PH2) held its first general assembly last July 2, 2021.

The virtual event was graced by more than 20 members from the Philippines and abroad. Members had the opportunity to meet and get to know each other’s expertise and passions. From the medical sector to the humanities, the event gathered diverse individuals who united in promoting planetary health action in the country.

The assembly featured a brainstorming session where priority themes and future activities were identified. Some of the topics raised include planetary health education, food systems, urban renewal, and indigenous health.

PH2 members also agreed about the importance of “Filipinizing” planetary health to better communicate this new concept to Filipinos. Moreover, as the 2022 elections draw near, PH2 members expressed interest in assessing the stands of future candidates when it comes to pressing planetary health issues such as climate change.

Additionally, the network plans to organize capacity-building workshops for its members to cultivate their knowledge and skills in planetary health research and practice.

Watch out for updates on future PH2 events and initiatives.
